Victories give you confidence. My confidence are super high, but still, in some situations, I'm still struggling a bit. But, in that situation, with more confidence, I think I would have struggled less. So, let's see if we can continue working in that way.

people think political staffers don't listen to their voicemails and read the emails that they send to their elected officials, and let me assure you that we absolutely do. we just don't always respond to them immediately (or at all) for a variety of reasons. a not-insignificant part of my job is just attempting to clear the never-cleared email inbox throughout the day

that said, form emails (where you just attach your name to a pre-written email, usually on a 'take action' webpage that sends it for you)? stop sending those, for the love of god. we all write email rules and send those directly to a 'form email' folder and the only thing we note after getting the first one is 'constituent/non-constituent supports/opposes this bill or nomination'. Please send something that indicates you are an actual human being with a real opinion, I am begging you all

You ever not consider how important something is until it’s swapped with something else?

Yeah, that’s how I’m feeling about this edit.

On the surface, red Vi and blue Jinx just seems obvious, they’re an important duo who are very different people, so give them contrasting colors. Then the blue contrasts with Jinx’s pink pants, and the red contrasts with Vi’s blue gauntlets, it’s all nice and simple.

Then I see this edit, and holy shit the colors are really important actually.

Vi is bright red(and also pink) because she’s violent and physical. She’s not the hulk, per say, but one of the most fundamental and consistent aspects of Vi’s characterization is her tendency to solve all of her problems by punching, that’s all over both seasons.

Furthermore, blue is the color of science in Arcane, it’s the color of technology and of Piltover. Vi doesn’t wear it because she’s a Zaunite who’s not a scientist or an inventor. Look at it in terms of her gauntlets:

When Vi first gets her gauntlets in S1A3, they’re all bright blue and gold, very clearly not any of the colors associated with her, and thus clearly not hers.

In S2A1 when Caitlyn gaslights her into becoming an enforcer, that unfamiliar blue and gold covers her entire design. She’s not just using Piltover’s tools anymore, she’s become part of their system. Now her hair is signaling how uncomfortable she feels in the role.

It’s not easy to see, but Vi actually paints her gauntlets black in her pit fighter era, the hextexh energy still notes that they’re not from her world, but by painting them she has made them her own.

Then in S2A3 she gets new gauntlets that are still black, because Vi is working with Piltover, but not allowing them to take her over like they did in act 1.

Vi actually lots of interesting storytelling in her colors, I could make a whole different post about the meaning of black in her design, but I’ve yapped about her enough by now.

But with all that being said, if blue is the color of Piltover, why is it also Jinx’s color?

First off, Jinx’s blue isn’t the the deep navy of Piltover, that’s Caitlyn’s color, she instead has the saturated, electric blue of hextech. This is not coding her as a Piltovan, it’s coding her as a scientist.

Jinx doesn’t solve her problems by punching, that’s Vi’s thing, she solves them by building bigger and better weapons to shoot and/or blow them up with. She’s very much not Piltovan, but she’s blue because she is very much an inventor. After all, her plotline in season one is all about stealing and reverse-engineering hextech, something even Piltover’s top scientists couldn’t figure out.

However, even if she doesn’t prefer it, when Jinx does fight physically, guess what color follows her?

Jinx may not be a fighter generally, but when she does fight, she channels a little bit of her older sister.

its been literally only three sessions but i think perhaps DMing is going to be the end of me. i love being a player in ttrpgs and the depth you can bring to a character that way, but pulling the strings and knowing all the secrets is genuinely addictive for a brain that is constantly swirling with half-baked ideas that cook best with collaboration.

now all i need is for all my players to quit their jobs, move into my flat, and experience my machinations daily.

Okay, so a big observation I've made about Four that really makes me enjoy his character more: unlike most of the others, who hide their abilities either out of distrust, disinterest, or shame, Four hides his for the drama.

Look at the look on his face when people ask about the Four Sword.

Like, clearly he's leery of surprise because of it, but he isn't sorry for having it, I don't think, at least not for the most part. That boy is proud of it. He doesn't tell them what it can do because he'd rather show them what it can do.

I mean, every time someone finds out about his secret he's just all :3

This boy may not have asked for the abilities he got but he sure does love to show them off when he gest the chance, and I honestly love that for him. It's about time these boys were proud of what they could accomplish, they deserve it.

(It also explains why he can keep his own secrets so well when he is garbage at keeping other's secrets - it's because he wants to be dramatic and surprise them LOL)

This update has definitely made me appreciate Four more <3

Harpy mickrin AU yay! Sorta loosely set in Aatom87's harpy & zookeeper AU- Rin is a sooty owl and Mickbell is a cockatiel. You know how parrots are...

The zoo keeps them in the same enclosure out of lack of funds to try and fix behavioral issues. Rin was being too self-isolating and Mickbell was starting shit with other harpies and bonded with zookeeper Kuro instead, which is unhealthy, so they put them in a side enclosure to bond together and assigned Kabru to it instead. Thus they are forced to have enrichment together.

Kabru has it tough since they both act like they hate him, except one is only a tsundere act lol. Mickbell like "huh?? You stealing my cagemate punk?? Wanna fight??" and he's not even wrong lol. Tiny bird very angry very aggressive, cue Kabru getting scratched every day... Kabru leaving their enclosure after a whole showdown of cockatiel Mick screaming scratching biting inflicting him little wounds and then Mick goes right back to "I'm just a little guy"ing @ Rin. Keep going buddy i'm sure... one day...... you'll win her over and make her laugh. Or something.

Although hmmm Kabru hating monsters would mean he wouldn't work there in the first place. Maybe.... He's there undercover to investigate the zoos for corruption or animal-monster abuse or smth... And the injured Mithrun harpy is evidence that he has to take under his wing ba dum tss <- this is how my AUs get out of control

The gag is Zoro and Shanks aren’t that different. Zoro is also completely reckless with his body less so now but I have no doubt that even now if he needed to cut off any part of his body to win, to save his crew he would do it without hesitation just like shanks.

And the thing is Mihawk would still fight him as long as Zoro can pick up a sword Mihawk would still fight him and relish in it.

Zoro loses an eye, Mihawk still trains him.

And Shanks…..Shanks loses his mind a little bit

Ariadne is a Feywild Eladrin and a member of the Unseelie Court with bold ambitions of perhaps becoming an Archfey herself someday. Tasked with what could be considered an impossible feat - she makes her way to Barovia with the express intent to kill Strahd by any means necessary. Although she usually prefers to work alone, it becomes apparent very quickly that she may need to become a team player until her task is complete. I just got to the Sun Station in Outer Wilds today and I feel so much betrayal - not by the game designers, but as if I was in-game. I’m experiencing so much conceptual bleed right now.
